Meet the Organizer

Tyson Brooks is the organizer behind Sage & Rail Events and the owner of FrostLine Works. He lives in Evanston with his wife and four children, and his experience with events goes back more than two decades.

Tyson organized his first benefit event while he was still in high school. He later spent several years helping with model railroad festivals and event committees before studying technical theater and working with the Salt Lake County arts department in professional performing arts venues.

More recently, Tyson has experienced markets from the vendor side while working alongside Country Girl Pantry. That gave him a different perspective on the details that can make or break a show for a vendor, including communication, advertising, booth placement, food, breaks, and having an organizer who is actually available when something goes wrong.

That experience has shaped a simple philosophy for Sage & Rail:

Take care of the people who make the event possible.

Tyson wants Sage & Rail vendors to feel supported, shoppers to feel welcomed, staff to enjoy being part of the event, and community organizations to have opportunities to benefit alongside it.

Some of his earliest memories of markets come from attending Blue Goose Boutique near Lehi, Utah, with his grandmother. He still remembers the old armory, the tables of handmade goods, a Christmas tree, and the atmosphere of being there. Those memories are part of why he believes an event does not have to be enormous to become something people remember.

Evanston now feels like the right place to build something similar. The long-term goal is for Sage & Rail to grow into a series of community events that vendors want to return to and local families look forward to.

For Tyson, one of the best signs of success would be hearing a vendor say they made good money, felt the event was organized and easy to work with, and cannot wait to come back.
